Kevin Chappell Earns His First PGA Tour Victory At The Valero Texas Open With A Birdie On The 72nd Hole

BOOM! That’s how you wanna win your first event. I think that’s better than winning by double digit strokes. Sounds weird but a guy can learn a lot about himself when he stands on the 18th tee box on Sunday with a chance to win it. Jarring a birdie on the 72nd green for your first W on the PGA Tour is how I’d wanna do it. He even staved off a charging Brooks Koepka who fired an impressive 65. Again, I think those are the circumstances you want for that first win. Big time balls. 30-year-old Kevin Chappell clearly feels that way as well. Him and his caddy unleashed one hell of a celebration after the putt dropped. Just a couple of bros hugging it out to celebrate their win. Good for them.

Not to overshadow Chappell’s win but the real big news coming out of the Valero Texas Open was obviously Ian Poulter missing the cut and losing his PGA Tour card. I’m happy for Chappell and all but I’m really happy that Poulter experienced humiliation. That’s a win for humanity so shoutout to the greater powers that be for that one.

Another winner from the Valero Texas Open? Our handsome pal Chaps who went out there and saw the sights.

Just look at this handsome mother fucker

And a handsome swing to boot!
